Apple is rumored to be working on an update to its premium TWS offering, the AirPods Pro. The upcoming AirPods Pro 2 will succeed the first-generation AirPods Pro, which debuted in 2019. According to a new leak, the AirPods Pro 2 could be available in the third quarter of 2022. The same source previously hinted at a launch in Q2 2022. A few other popular forecasters predict a 2022 launch as well. A specific launch date, however, has yet to be determined.

Along with that, the device is expected to become more compact by removing the stem. The case could get a smaller design as well as IPX4 water resistance. The next TWS is expected to include updated motion sensors for fitness tracking. While that was only a brief overview of the rumored AirPods Pro 2, we have more information to share with you, so let’s get started.

AirPods Pro 2 Specifications and Features
Apple’s offerings have truly dominated the TWS market. While the Cupertino behemoth recently updated its low-cost TWS lineup with the third-generation AirPods. The brand’s flagship TWS offering has yet to be updated. The current-generation AirPods Pro were released in 2019, and according to a new leak, Apple may announce an upgrade to this model in the third quarter of 2022. The leak came from FronTron, who has a poor track record with Apple products. He claims, however, that the tip came directly from the supply chain. So there could be something to be claimed.

Aside from that, popular forecasters such as Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo have hinted at a 2022 launch. However, neither of the two has given a specific launch date.

There have been numerous leaks regarding the design of the AirPods Pro 2. According to a more recent report, the Apple AirPods Pro 2 will have a design similar to current models. However, the case is supposed to be slightly different, with a hole at the bottom for attaching a rope and a few other speaker holes.

However, a previous report suggests that the AirPods Pro 2 will have a new design. The next TWS could have a more rounded design. In addition, Apple may decide to remove the stem, which has been a part of the design since its inception. The brand previously displayed a similar design with the Beats Studio Buds, so it’s possible that the Apple AirPods 2 will do the same. Furthermore, the case is expected to become more compact and lightweight. The case is expected to measure 46mm tall, 54mm wide, and 21mm thick. It may also be water resistant to IPX4 standards.

With upgraded sensors and exercise tracking features, Apple is expected to place a strong emphasis on fitness. It is currently unknown which features Apple will include in the AirPods Pro 2. However, we may see heart rate monitoring, step tracking, distance tracking, and calorie tracking.

There isn’t much information available about the AirPods Pro 2, but we can expect an improved transparency mode, bone conduction technology, and compatibility with the AirTags. The device is expected to provide improved sound quality as well as Active Noise cancellation. The H1 chipset could then be found inside the AirPods Pro 2. However, some rumors claim that the upcoming AirPods Pro will include a chipset.

Aside from that, according to DigiTimes, biometric sensors could be added to the Apple AirPods Pro 2. When combined with other sensors, this could enable new health-related features such as a step counter, motion detection, heart rate monitoring, and more.

Apple AirPods Pro 2 release date
Apple hasn’t said anything about the release of the Apple AirPods Pro 2. However, a recent leak claims that the device will be available in Q3 2022. Other sources have also hinted at a 2022 launch, but we don’t have a firm date yet.
