Amazon announced on Friday that it has combined two of its grocery stores, Fresh and Pantry, into a single platform called Amazon Fresh. This is primarily a grocery platform where you can buy vegetables as well as groceries. On November 12, the Amazon Fresh store went live.

Amazon users in 300 cities will be able to place orders for vegetables and groceries through Amazon Fresh. Back in February, the e-commerce platform announced plans to integrate the two platforms. However, the store did not go live until November. According to Amazon, the new platform will allow users to purchase basic items such as vegetables and groceries at reduced prices.

“In February this year, we announced the integration of the Pantry store into Fresh in select cities,” said Siddharth Nambiar, director of category management at Amazon India. Today, we completed the integration of both stores into a single online store called Amazon Fresh, which is available in over 300 cities across India. Customers will continue to benefit from significant cost savings, a diverse product selection, and convenient delivery options.”

Nambiar revealed that with the new launch, all items will be delivered in a single convenient shipment that will take between 1-3 days to arrive depending on the customer’s location.

“This launch has enabled us to simplify grocery shopping through our dedicated Amazon Fresh app-in-app experience, and it positions us to deliver many new features and enhancements in the coming months. Aside from offering significant savings, Amazon Fresh will also lower the barriers to online grocery shopping “He continued.

Nambiar revealed that, following the pandemic, the majority of people in cities such as Bhubaneshwar, Patna, and Lucknow have resorted to online grocery shopping.

Users can have their orders delivered in as little as two hours. In August of this year, the new platform was tested in Bengaluru. Customers will receive convenient 2-hour delivery slots from 6 a.m. to midnight, with orders over Rs 600 receiving free delivery. Orders less than $8.07 will be charged a delivery fee of $0.39.
